Vogue Living Celebrates 40yrs

One of the most beautiful events I have worked on was Vogue Living's 40th Birthday. Host and Vogue Living Editor extraordinaire, David Clark (the most divine man)welcomed guests to B2 Studios in Alexandria. Guests did not know what to expect when they entered down a long corridor in a dark industrial area. Styled by Vogue Living's Alexandra Gordon, the unique space featured contemporary touches from some of the country's leading designers, including a Tord Boontje-designed chandelier, and brilliantly coloured Orgone chairs by Australian design star Marc Newson for Artificial.

Magnificent floral displays by the one and only Saskia Havekes of Grandiflora.

Impeccably enticing cheese wheel tables and delicious canapés were the creation of Australia’s Number 1 caterer – John Wilson from JohnandPeter.

Guests sipped on Tattinger and Bombay Sapphire martini’s with the exotic lounge and old style jazz tunes of DJ Lady Tre in the background.

No one wanted to leave….and why would you?

Chanel in St Tropez

Imagine this....a summer's evening in St Tropez. A cool crowd including Karl Largerfield, Venessa Paradis, Diane Kruger and Leigh Lezark all taking part in a petanque play-off under a canopy of fairy lights as the Gipsy Kings strummed in the background.

Prada's Market

A while ago I came across Prada's Market on one of the most brilliant websites - The Cool Hunter. and was blown away by the whole concept. I want to work for this event company - incredible!

These days Prada isn’t just a name in fashion. The venerable Italian fashion house has its elegant fingers in several other pies including mobile phones and staging mammoth events.

In May, 2005 the label hosted one of the parties of the year in the city of Valencia in Spain to celebrate the America’s Cup. As principal sponsors of one of the participating yachts, Luna Rossa, Prada spared no expense at its lavish VIP do held at the Central Market which is normally home to a buzzing produce market.

The event attracted a slew of local and international celebrities who lapped up the unique ambience – organizers left a lot of the stalls intact including fruit stalls and delis, and guests were invited to sample the produce on offer. One deli housed the event’s DJ, who mixed tunes amid the Parma ham and anchovy tins, while other stalls where converted into mini showcases of Prada accessories; with belts and bags hanging from hooks as if they were pieces of fruit. In one deli stall Prada even displayed its silk turban range.

Dinner was served on a series of intimate dining tables that were scattered through out the venue, giving party goers the feeling that they were at an elegant dinner party. By Laura Demasi.
